General Race Details - Storm the 10

General Notes The Course Race Rules
Other Rules How It Works Race Swag

General Notes:
  • Storm the Ten is a relay-style adventure race with a maximum duration of ten hours. The goal is to complete as many laps as possible within that timeframe.
  • Each lap is a single loop consisting of paddling, trail running and mountain biking sections.
  • Open to solo racers, tag teams, and teams of 2, 3, 4 or 6.
  • Teams must complete each lap and each discipline in pairs (ie. 2 racers per team complete a lap together before tagging off with the next pair at the transition zone). Only solo racers and tag teams may race individually.
  • For a full explanation of the team formats, click here.
  • Prizing and awards will be presented to the top three teams that complete the most laps in each race category:
Solo Teams of 2 Teams of 3 Teams of 4 Teams of 6 Tag Teams
Solo Male Open Male Male Male Male Male
Solo Male Masters Female Female Female Female Female
Solo Female Open Coed Coed Coed Coed Coed
Solo Female Masters

Masters categories are open to solo racers 40 years and over.

The Course:
  • The racecourse consists of a single loop that is roughly 10km in distance.
  • Further course details will be provided in the complete racer information package, which will be made available online in August, 2010.
  • Course marking will not occur until the day prior to Race Day - there will be no opportunities given to “pre-ride” the course in advance.
  • Race routes will be fully marked - racers will not be issued race maps or be required to navigate their way through the course.
  • A map of the race route and the order of disciplines will be made available online on September 15, 2010.
Race Rules:
  • Teams must complete each lap and each discipline in pairs, and team members must be within visible sight of each other at all times. Only solos and tag teams may race as individuals.
  • Each discipline on the racecourse will have at least one “checkpoint” where staff will check racers through to ensure that racers complete the course in full and that teams remain together as pairs.
  • The cut-off for final laps is one hour before the official finish time. No team or racer will be allowed to begin a new lap after this point. Racers must complete their final lap before the official finish time in order for it to be counted.
  • No outside support is allowed on the course other than from race staff and volunteers.
  • Racers may only "tag off" at the designated lap Start/Finish area, and may not enter the course at any other location.
  • Team numbers may not be exceeded, and team members may not be substituted mid-race. Members of a team may be changed only if notification is given prior to Race Day.
  • Racers must follow the marked route - shortcutting the course is strictly prohibited and will result in instant disqualification.
  • Racers must wear their bike helmets at all times while travelling by bike, and their PFD's at all times during water travel.
Other Rules:
  • Each team must have a team name included with their registration. Storm Racing reserves the right to refuse entry to any team that does not provide a team name.
  • Registrations are considered incomplete until full payment is received.
  • Manual registration forms submitted without the requested racer information completed in full will not be processed.
  • All racers must sign a race waiver on Race Day. Any participants who are under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present when signing these waivers.
  • Racers under 16 years of age must be on a team that includes at least one adult.
How It Works:
  • A confirmation of each team registration will be sent via email. Be sure to contact us if you have not received confirmation within 10 days of submitting your registration form.
